Hi!
My name is Mikayla Boulanger and I am a third-year student at Gustavson. My area of focus is digital and international marketing. I have been studying online at UVIC since 2020 and finally making the move to Victoria in January. Very nerve-wracking. I have this innate fear that I won’t be able to find my fourth-year class and have to ask a first-year for directions. I am taking this class to further my knowledge of digital media and its effects. I fell into the digital marketing business during the pandemic. As most did, I spent a lot of time online and honestly, a lot on TikTok. I began making content for myself and fell in love with social media marketing, content creation and UGC creation. Over the past few years, I’ve created several personal brands and have been experimenting with various platforms and identities. Some failed and some succeeded, all in the pursuit to find my passion and digital identity. I have also worked with several companies in different roles to further my expertise. Most recently, I spent the summer working with a small sustainable start-up based in Victoria called joni (@get_joni). I spent time as their Social Media Manager and building the foundation for their online presence.
For this class, I will be working with my personal social media accounts and reflecting on their progress. I enjoy posting lifestyle, outfit and self-reflection content. I truly value original, authentic and relatable content, I feel the best way to connect to an audience online is to be genuine as possible.
